- 1 can (400g) tomatoes or 3 fresh ripe tomatoes (chopped)
- 1 cup water or vegetable/chicken broth
- Salt & pepper to taste
- ½ tsp sugar (balances acidity)
- ½ tsp dried basil or oregano (optional)
- 2 tbsp cream or milk (optional, for creaminess)
🍳 Instructions:
- Sauté base:
Heat oil in a pot. Add onion and garlic. Cook 2–3 minutes until soft. - Add tomatoes:
Stir in canned or fresh tomatoes. Cook for 2–3 minutes, breaking them down. - Add liquid & seasonings:
Pour in water or broth. Add salt, pepper, sugar, and herbs. Simmer for 5–6 minutes. - Blend:
Use an immersion blender (or transfer to a regular blender) to make it smooth. - Finish:
Stir in cream or milk if using. Simmer 1 more minute. Adjust seasoning. - Serve hot with toasted bread, croutons, or grilled cheese.
